Artie Yellowhorse , Navajo - New Mexico, USA
An exceptional example of natural Pietersite/Pietercite consisting of abstract sections of deep brown/gold and heavily fibrous chatoyant light gold, olive, and grey. It looks like one those amazing photos from the Hubbell telescope of a swirling cosmos in far outer space.
This features the meticulous silver perimeter of large and small twists.
This is one of my favorite stones, Artie has been getting more but it never seems to be enough
First found in 1962, there are only two known sources of Pietersite in the world, Africa and China.
It's almost impossible to accurately photograph because the color shifts in every variation of light and viewing angle. The accompanying photos show the piece under a varying of light levels. Unfortunately the beauty of the chatoyance cannot be adequately represented.
I've NEVER had someone tell me the pictures of Pietersite looked better than the item.
