Artie Yellowhorse, Navajo
A nice-sized piece of natural Pietersite/Pietercite consisting of abstract sections of deep blue/black and heavily fibrous chatoyant light golds, greys, and browns.
First found in 1962, there are only two known sources of Pietersite in the world, Africa and China.
It's really tough to photograph accurately because it color shifts in every variation of light. The accompanying photos show the piece under overhead light, streaming down the front. Unfortunately the beauty of the chatoyance is not adequately represented. In a darkened room , without much light, the pendant will be subdued, get it into light and it pops.
Beautiful piece. This is one of my favorite stones.
I have both gold/brown dominant and blue dominant options in this stone. I try to carry bracelets, earrings, pendants, and rings.
