Artie Yellowhorse, Navajo
Unusual and attractive piece of petrified Palm Wood. These extinct trees used to grow on prehistoric beaches where they are found with fossil sponges, corals, and mollusks.
The dots are what is left of the woody rods that used to run the length of the interior of the trunk. Over time the wood has been replaced by silica.
