Artie Yellowhorse, Navajo Jewelry - New Mexico, USA
Beautiful, deep Blue Pietersite/Pietercite interspersed with lighter fibrous blue-grey areas in Artie's single twist and sawcut setting.
One of the most appealing features, is the chatoyancy of the stone, delivering a luminous streak of light from the fibrous structures like the sheen from silk. You have to see it to get it but the closest thing most people have seen is tiger eye stone.
This is predominately blues with a few very small sections with brown and gold accents.
Pietersite is very challenging to photograph. Each photo has different lighting, Under some lighting, Pietersite will appear to be a dark stone but, under other light, it will flash dramatically. Which photo looks "most" like the stone totally depends on the lighting, both amount and angle. Your monitor can also affect the appearance.
