Angie Reano Owen, Kewa / Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico, USA
Native American Indian Jewelry
These finely executed earrings are backed with some kind of light wood that has been finished and polished. Most Kewa earrings are quite light for their size due to the limited use of metal and the lightweight of the materials. Angie is widely credited with reviving the ancient Anasazi jewelry tradition. She has been active since the mid-1960's. She does inexpensive pieces and pieces like this to which she devotes more attention and finish.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Angie should feel pretty good because their are a hoard of copycats that have sprung up over the years.
Purchased directly from the artist at Santa Fe Indian Market subject to the rules of Market.
Remember to check the dimensions-the photos are extreme close-ups
