Artie Yellowhorse, Navajo
A beautiful uniform-sized oval of natural Pietersite/Pietercite consisting of deep blue/black background with swirls of and heavily fibrous chatoyant light blues and golds.
I can state this is the hardest piece I've even photographed and I'm still not close to happy with it.
First found in 1962, there are only two known sources of Pietersite in the world, Africa and China.
It's difficult to accurately photograph due to color shifts in every variation of light. These photos show the piece under a variety of light conditions. Unfortunately the beauty of the chatoyance is not adequately represented.
This is one of my favorite stones but Artie has rarely had much on hand so I have to wait and "get in line".
I have some pieces in pendants, rings , and earrings in gold/brown dominant and blue dominant variations. Chain not included.
