Artie Yellowhorse, Navajo - New Mexico, USA
A good-sized piece of natural Pietersite/Pietercite consisting of abstract sections of deep blue/black and heavily fibrous chatoyant light golds and greys.
First found in 1962, there are only two known sources of Pietersite in the world, Africa and China.
It's difficult to accurately photograph due to color shifts in every variation of light. These photos show the piece under a variety of light conditions. Unfortunately the beauty of the chatoyance is not adequately represented.
This is one of my favorite stones but Artie has rarely had much on hand so I have to wait and "get in line".
I have some pieces in pendants, rings , and earrings in gold/brown dominant and blue dominant variations.
