Artist: James Del & Doris Coriz, Santo Domingo
Description: Beautiful rich blue Kingman turquoise graduated bead necklace with a pendant (built-in) of orange spiny oyster depicting the spread tail of an eagle landing, known as a fantail. This is a signature piece of James and Doris.
As there is no "right" side, you can pick which side you prefer. James has confirmed this is stabilized, a piece in "natural" turquoise in this quantity would be well over $1,000 these days.
I also have a green Royston version of this on the site. I have included some comparison photos here so you can get an idea of size and what the piece looks like when worn.
Purchased direct from the artists
Metal: Sterling silver
Stones or Other Materials: Heavily matrixed blue Kingman turquoise (stabilized), orange spiny oyster, and coral accent
Source: Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo, New Mexico, USA
Height: Approximately 22-1/4" end-to-end (stonework only - not including silver findings).
Around the neck, when clasped to the hook that makes it the shortest, it hangs down about 8". On the "longest setting of the extender" it hangs about 9-12" down (to the bottom). Obviously, everyone's neck is different but this gives a pretty good idea of the range. (see photo below of Royston version to get an idea of appearance.)
The two silver findings at the ends are approximately 7/8" each. It comes with a 3-1/4" sterling silver extender to adjust the length.
Beads: 11/64" Diameter (at neck) up to 25/64" & 29/64" Diameter (Adjacent to the fantail and depending upon the string)
Pendant: 2"H x 2-7/8"W
Self Weight: 3.7 oz/105g
Hallmarked: Sterling and Three Rain Clouds on the findings
Signed: Unsigned
Hallmarked: Sterling
Repeatable Design: Similar can be made but no two will be the same. Availability can be limited based on the health of the artist.
Available in other materials: Yes. James and Doris also make this with green turquoise (I currently have this IN-STOCK)
