One of the most prominent of the extended Laate family of carvers, Destry is the Brother-in_Law to Derrick Kaamassee. Derrick is related to the late brothers Pernell Laate and Willard Laate, Elton Kaamasee, Ruben & Esteban Najera, Max Laate, Lewis Malie, Calvin Weeka, Jerrold Lahaleon, and Alvert Lamy. You can see the influences in his work.
